My online filing cabinet to share!

It is time to clean out and dispose of my many files but I am such a "keeper" that I can't just throw my years of stories, quotes, ideas, and memories away SO--- I am going to digitize them and put them in a blog to save in cyberspace as well. If anyone ever looks at this, I hope you find something that inspires creativity and fun energy!

MORMONOPOLY

MORMONOPOLY
Here are directions from years ago, I don't know where I got them, for a fun version of Monopoly -- Mormonopoly.  They are hard to read, but I didn't take time to re-type them at this time.

SCRIPTURE ROAD SIGNS ACTIVITY

SCRIPTURE ROAD SIGNS ACTIVITY
FRIEND -- October 1993

Here is a fun little activity for a lesson.  You could make a full page picture of each sign and then do a "math up" game.  You could use this as an introduction to a lesson.

SCRIPTURE GRAB BAG GAME

SCRIPTURE GRAB BAG GAME
FRIEND -- December 1983

Here is a fun and simple way to review scripture stories!
It would also be a great "plan" for multiple FHE Lessons -- spend a session on each "toy/symbol" that is in your "scripture grab bag."  After teaching each story, add the "toy/symbol" to your grab bag and review as you go along and then in the end play to review all the stories!!!  Then pull out the grab bag every few weeks for a quick fun review activity!  The kids will love it!

Print or make signs that say "Jerusalem" and "Wilderness."
Make 2 of each signs that say "Brass Plates," "Ishmael's Daughters."
Make a sign that says "Liahona."
Print the questions and cut them apart and put them in a bowl or hat to draw out randomly.

Both teams start in “Jerusalem” and physically  move their team as they advance through the game.
You could use a picture of camel as a “game piece” instead of moving the group.

RULES:
Divide group into two teams.  Mix older and younger ages.  Each person MUST have a copy of the Book of Mormon.

Read a question to Team #1.  Let them answer after a short 1-2 minutes discussion – do NOT use the scriptures.
After the answer is given, have a scriptures chase to determine if the answer is correct.
If the answer is correct, Team #1 receives 2 points.
ALSO, the team who first has every member pointing to the scripture reference for the correct answer will receive 1 point!
When a team reaches 5 points, then they are able to advance to the next level.  Continue game until one team receives a Liahona.

A BOND TO CREATE

A BOND TO CREATE
by Ben Richardson

First thing you'll need,
is a boy or a girl.
Choose wisely, because this will be irreplaceable.
Make sure he or she
has a difficulty.
Now for the mother.
Base with compassion and care.
Add a dash of worry.
Mix with hard experiences.
Mix carefully, not too fast.
Make sure you can see,
a truly inspirational person.
Top off with a few cups of determination.
The last ingredient is
something impossible to add.
It is always there,
no matter what is done.
Set the child and the mother together,
and you will get it.
Love.

Spring 2011
Benjamin wrote this poem as an assignment for school.
It's depth is amazing for a 12 year old boy!

BE A WOMAN OF CHRIST

Be a woman of Christ.  Cherish your esteemed place in the sight of God.  He needs you.  This Church needs you.  The world needs you.  A woman’s abiding trust in God and unfailing devotion to things of the Spirit have always been an anchor when the wind and the waves of life were fiercest.  I say to you what the Prophet Joseph said more than 150 ear ago.  “If you live up to your privileges, the angels cannot be restrained from being your associates.”

All of this is to try to tell you how your Father in Heaven feels about you and what He has designed for you to become.  And if for a time any of you are less visionary than this or seem bent on living beneath your privilege, then we express even greater love for you and plead with you to make your teenage years a triumph, not a tragedy.

I plead with you young women to please be more accepting of yourselves, including your body shape and style with little less longing to look like someone else.  We are all different.  As one advisor to a teenage girl said:  “You can’t live your life worrying that the world is staring at you.  When you let people’s opinions make you self-conscious you give away your power.  The key to feeling confident is to always listen to your inner self – the real you.”  And in the Kingdom of God, the real you is ‘more precious than rubies.’
