TIME
MANAGEMENT
“Coping with the complex and
diverse challenges of everyday life, which is not an easy task, can upset the
balance and harmony we seek. Many good people who care a great deal are trying
very hard to maintain balance, but they sometimes feel overwhelmed and
defeated. … Many people have heavy demands upon them stemming from parental,
family, employment, church, and civic responsibilities. Keeping everything in
balance can be a real problem.”

WHAT
DO THE SCRIPTURES TEACH ABOUT TIME??
•
TIME on earth had
a beginning
–
“In
the Beginning God created the heaven and the earth. …. And the evening and the morning were the
first day.” (Genesis 1:1,5)
•
We all have an
“allotment” of TIME here on earth
–
“Is there
not an appointed TIME to man upon earth?” (Job 7:1)
–
“…it
was appointed unto men that they must die …”
(Alma 12:27)
–
“ …
and is not appointed unto death, shall be healed.” (D&C 42:48)
–
“For
there is a time appointed for every man.” (DC 121:25)
TIME is a part of our mortal experience
How
do we use our TIME?
We all receive 24 hours a day &
168 hours per week.
small shed beside a
busy road. They obtained a
truck and drove it
to a farmer’s field, where they
purchased a
truckload of melons for $1 per
melon. They drove the loaded truck to their
shed by the road,
where they sold the melons for
a dollar a
melon. They drove back to the farmer’s
field and bought
another truckload of melons for
$1 per melon. Transporting them to the roadside,
they again sold them
for $1 per melon. As they
drove back toward
the farmer’s field to get
another load, one
partner said to the other,
“We’re not making
much money on this business,
are we?” “No, we’re not,” his partner replied.
“Do you think we
need a bigger truck?”
NOT A BIGGER TRUCK, BUT A CLEARER FOCUS
DO
THE SCRIPTURES TEACH US HOW TO USE TIME??
•
“… Thou
shalt not idle away thy TIME, …”
(D&C 60:13)
•
“To
every thing there is a season, and a TIME to every purpose under heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die …” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
•
“…now it
is high TIME to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when
we believed.” (Romans 13:11)
•
“ … a
TIME granted unto man to repent … a time to … serve God.”
(Alma 42:4)
•
“… a
TIME to prepare to meet God; …” (Alma
12:24)
I can’t give you that answer.
It is personal.
It is specific to you.
Only the Lord can instruct you in your quest of
personal time management.
“Every discovery in
science and art, that is really true and useful to mankind, has been given by
direct revelation from God…We should take advantage of all these great
discoveries .. And give to our children the benefit of every branch of useful
knowledge, to prepare them to step forward and efficiently do their part in the
great work.”

If you think your life is perfect –
you’re in denial.
If you think your life should be perfect –
your delusional.
If you think someone else’s life is perfect – you’re
just not a very good friend.
